The hotel is located just across the road from the icy cold waters of the Patreksfjördur fjord and offers views over a captivating and dramatic landscape.
 
It makes the perfect base for exploring the mountainous landscape around the Westfjords. One recommendation is the Dynjandi waterfall which is less than one hundred kilometres away. The biggest attraction in the area, though, is the bird cliff of Latrabjarg, which is one of the largest bird cliffs in Europe and the westernmost point in Iceland. This cliff hosts millions of different birds of various species, with the most characteristic type being the orange-billed puffin. Be sure to visit between mid-May and late August for the best possible bird watching experience.
 
Fosshotel Westfjords is a ten minute walk from the nearest town, which is named Patreksfjördur after the fjord, where you will find shops and restaurants. Naturally, the hotel also has its own restaurant which offers a menu which includes many local fish dishes.
